Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 July 2026
Clara ("we", "us") is a learning app that teaches mental models. This policy explains
what we collect, why, and your choices. Questions? Send us a message.
What we collect
- Account info — your name and email address, provided when you sign in with Google.
We never see or store a password.
- Onboarding preferences — the age range, interests, and story genre you pick, used to
tailor lessons and practice scenarios.
- Progress & usage — days completed, drill results, streaks, XP, and similar in-app activity.
- Reminders (optional) — if you turn on daily reminders, your browser's push subscription
and timezone, so we can send them at the right local time.
- Technical data — basic logs (e.g. request errors) needed to operate and secure the service.
What we don't store: the free-text answers and notes you write in the app stay in your
browser's local storage only — they are not sent to or kept on our servers.
How we use it
- To provide the app: save your progress, show your journey, and personalize lessons.
- To generate AI-tailored stories, lessons, and coaching based on the inputs you provide.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
Third parties we use
- Google — for sign-in (we receive your name, email, and profile basics). See Google's privacy policy.
- OpenRouter — to generate AI stories, lessons, coaching, and practice scenarios, the relevant
context (e.g. the lesson day, your onboarding preferences, or a practice answer you submit for coaching) is sent
to an AI model provider. Don't enter anything you wouldn't want processed by a third-party AI service.
We do not sell your personal data, and we don't share it except as needed to run the service or where required by law.
Storage & security
Your data is stored on our own server (a VPS) in a database that is not publicly accessible. We use HTTPS for all
traffic and keep credentials server-side. No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Cookies & local storage
We use one first-party session cookie to keep you signed in (it's httpOnly, so scripts can't read it) and your
browser's local storage to cache app state and your written notes. We don't use third-party advertising or
tracking cookies.
Your choices
- Delete your account yourself: open the Saga tab and tap Delete account.
This immediately and permanently erases your account and all associated data from our servers.
- Access your data: message us and we'll action it.
- Turn off reminders: use the same toggle that enabled them, or revoke the permission in your browser.
Children
Clara is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll change the "Last updated" date above. Continued use means you accept the changes.
